If I had to guess, it’s that you’re already seeing an overwhelming amount of newsletters and posts about how to set goals for the new year.
This one isn’t about that.
Instead, I thought I’d share what some of my copy-related goals are over the next 12 months.
Each of these goals already have mini milestones attached to them in the pages of my journal, so they’re not pie-in-the-sky ideals. They’re plans I’m ready to execute on.
The good part? You’ll probably get value out of most of them.

(one small caveat)
Before I get in the weeds here, I want to make a distinction.
There are copy goals I have at the agency and there are copy goals I have for myself and this external ecosystem I have in this newsletter community.
These goals are about the latter.

Goal #1: Publish 10 flagship pieces of content
I’m not talking about 500 word “insights” that get clicks. These are intended to be in-depth articles on core topics about copywriting, and specifically, copywriting in the DTC space.
I’ll be writing explicitly from first-hand experience, providing core insights into how I think about and approach copywriting in key areas.
👉 If you’re NOT already a subscriber, get on my list here so you don’t miss a thing!
Goal #2: Guest post in 3 industry publications
I’m not talking about Forbes or any other publication that exists merely for the SEO-clout. I’m talking about niche publications (online or otherwise) relevant to copywriting in the DTC space.
Where do you go for industry-related knowledge? Those are the places I want to write.
I have some ideas already, but I’m interested about the places you frequent and who you think I should reach out to.
👉 Drop your suggestions in the comment section below.
Goal #3: Launch my first paid resource
While I wholly believe in giving your best ideas away for free, I also believe it’s important to pay your bills on time. That’s why I’m already working on a paid resource specifically for copywriters in my niche (DTC).
I fully intend on launching more micro courses like this one in the coming year as well – those will remain free.
👉 What kind of (paid or free) resources would you like to see? Drop your ideas in the comment section.
Goal #4: Put in the reps
I say this to nearly every writer I work with: you just have to put in the reps. In other words, the only way to improve your craft and grow is to do the work. I fully intend on doing that this year both at the agency and here through this newsletter community.
