More options lead to fewer conversions.
Psychologist Barry Schwartz proved this with his famous "jam study." When shoppers were offered 24 jam varieties, only 3% made a purchase. But when they saw just 6 options? 30% bought something.
The culprit is rooted in decision fatigue.
Your brain has limited cognitive resources, so every choice you present burns through that mental energy. And by the time someone reaches your CTA, they're already exhausted from processing your message.
This is why scattered copy fails: "Buy now OR sign up for our newsletter OR download our guide OR follow us on social"
Too many decisions causes your reader’s brain to shut down.
But here's what works:
The Rule of One
One primary message
One target audience
One clear action
Instead of overwhelming your target with options, guide them down a single path.
Not: "Shop our collection, join our email list, or learn more about our story"
But: "Shop the collection" (with other options tucked away elsewhere)
Again, the human brain can only process so much at once. Respect that limitation and your copy’s better poised to convert.
Give people one clear next step. They'll actually take it.

Must-Read Articles
Reduce Shopping Cart Abandonment: Reasons and Tips (via Omnisend)
Why I recommend it 👉 There are a ton of reasons customers abandon their carts. Sometimes it’s due to price, difficult of checkout, availability, time constraints — reasons can seem endless. But thankfully, Omnisend put together the latest data on the top 9 reasons shoppers abandon their carts with ways around them. Check it out.
Your International Customers Are Already on WhatsApp – Are You? (via Iterable)
Why I recommend it 👉 As someone firmly baked into the digital ecosystems readily provided to us here in the States, I’ve steered clear of WhatsApp for the most part. But it just so happens it’s emerging as an effective marketing channel, particularly in the international market. Even if you’re a US-based company, it’s worth considering jumping into this medium if your target demographic is heavily engaged there as well.
Regional Audience Deep Dives (via MailChimp)
Why I recommend it 👉 This is less of an article and more of a resource worth bookmarking. But it’s great insights into the attitudes, habits, and spending behaviors of 9 different international markets (Australia, Benelux, Canada, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, UK, and USA).

Pretty Fly Copy
NADS
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 First of all, I love the subject line. Second of all, I appreciate the angle. It’s less about the product and more about the type of person who chooses to use the product. It’s one of those campaigns that affirms identity. And you know what? It performed super well.
PATH PROJECTS
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 I wrote recently about the importance of not letting your reader’s brain work to hard. Bundles are a great way to ease the energy required to help your customers make sense of “what do I need.” This email’s all about featuring kits designed for specific athletic endeavors.
MARS MEN
Format: Email
Why I like it 👉 This email is a great example of the AIDA framework in action. They grab your attention, pique your interest (educating you along the way), stoke your desire (”build more muscle, burn more fat”), and end with a no-brainer action (”50% off the Launch Kit”).
THE PILLOW HOME
Format: Ad
Why I like it 👉 Effective hook, great headline, and an even better video. It’s an excellent product demo.
