Copy Tip of the Week
Use the anchoring bias to your advantage.
Usually the first piece of information your readers see affects their following judgments. The most common way you see this employed in consumer marketing is with price anchoring.
For example, you might list your more expensive products first in order to make the less expensive options more appealing.
Premium Bundle | $199
Performance Bundle | $149
Spotlight Bundle | $99
It’s a great strategy for driving the purchases of products you’re trying to move inventory on or even for getting people to sign up for subscription programs.
You can also use this approach for more than price anchoring, but to anchor emotions as well. You’ll see this approach commonly used in nonprofit fundraising letters ;)
Must-Read Articles
October BFCM Checklist: 5 Things to Do This Month (via Klaviyo)
Why I recommend it: The holiday shopping season has already started, so it’s absolutely vital you keep your email list (or your clients’ email lists) in tip-top shape. Klaviyo shares 5 tips for optimizing account performance this month!
Charge for Product Trials That Require Effort (via Nick Kolenda)
Why I recommend it: If you need help framing your offers in a way that’ll get people to invest in your brand, this is a great strategy to employ. It might work better for subscription-based or serviced-based businesses, but I think you could apply the same principle to a DTC business (e.g. Subscribe now and get your next renewal for only $5).

Pretty Fly Copy
OHSNAP
Format: Prime Day Sale Email
Why I like it: I thought this was a brilliant sale strategy to run alongside the Prime Day sales. The way they framed it as a “race” with limited higher value discounts available was fun and it was a cool way to gamify a sale!
EAST FORK
Format: Email
Why I like it: There are humans on the other side of the emails we write and humans on this side too. Just because you’re selling a consumer product doesn’t mean you can’t show your humanness from time to time. This campaign from East Fork put the human struggle front and center and shared how your purchase helps their local communities while also offering other ways to support them as well.
CADEN LANE
Format: Email
Why I like it: Again – simplicity wins. This is a new collection announcement and the way they kept it simple (all products showcased in the hero) made clicking the ONE button in the middle of the email not a difficult choice.
XERO SHOES
Format: Instagram Static Ad
Why I like it: I love it when an ad or an email makes a big promise (”biggest sale of 2024”) and delivers (”up to 70% off”). The copy in the graphic is simple. The body copy in the ad itself demonstrates the sale’s for everybody (look at that list!). Pretty good.
MOVISTAR
Format: Static Ad Campaign

Why he likes it: Read Dan’s break down here.
