Copy Tip of the Week
🚫Just say no to large walls of text.
This tip is for designers as much as it’s for copywriters.
Cognitive overload is a very real thing.
The human brain can only process so much information at once. When it’s overwhelmed, it tries to find a way out.
When it comes to reading lots of words, your brain will either completely check out, or skim the text looking for things like headlines, bolded words, and bullet points.
Sounds like things that work well in emails, no?
Your brain only has so much energy. It’s going to do whatever it can to preserve it.
So, help your customer’s brain out.
Avoid large walls of text.
Use headlines well.
Draw attention to the things that get them to the next step.
And consider cutting out the rest.

Pretty Fly Copy
Good copywriting is everywhere. Here are a few examples that grabbed my attention this week:
[Email] Perk:
FLATTERING subject line, great UGC in the header, awesome CTA up top, amazing subheadline — this was a superb email. It helps that I know the copywriter who wrote it and she is so good.
[Email] Brightland:
This was another great email. The subject line and headline were on point for the main content of the email, and the way this incredibly talented copywriter framed ‘press highlights’ as reviews was dope. Also, this Pizza Oil really is quite tasty!
[Email] All Trails
I loved how they drew attention to Mental Health Awareness Month and presented ideas for improving mental health that utilize their product w/o directly saying it. It was a subtle way of promoting All Trails while still keeping the reader’s needs front-and-center.
