Copy Tip of the Week
The Power of Juxtaposition (via the Ads Professors via Buyology)
Juxtaposition is a creative strategy that places two elements side by side to highlight their differences or similarities. This technique works because it:
Clarifies Value Proposition: By directly comparing costs or benefits, the ad makes the value clear and immediate.
Engages the Audience: The unexpected nature of the comparison grabs attention and piques curiosity.
Simplifies Decision-Making: It straightforwardly frames the choice, making it easier for the audience to understand the benefits.
Additionally, it often involves humor or surprise, which can create an emotional connection with the audience. The stark contrast between the items being compared makes the ad more memorable.
Applying Juxtaposition in Your Ads (or Emails!)
To effectively use juxtaposition in your ads, consider the following steps:
1. Identify Key Comparisons: Think about what everyday items or experiences your product can be compared to. Choose comparisons that will resonate with your target audience.
2. Create Visual Contrast: Use clear, high-quality images that highlight the differences or similarities. Ensure that the visual elements are easily distinguishable.
3. Craft a Strong Message: Accompany the visuals with a concise, impactful message that drives home the comparison.
Juxtaposition in advertising is a powerful tool for emphasizing your value proposition and engaging your audience. By creatively contrasting two elements, you can make your message clear, impactful, and memorable. Implementing this strategy can transform your ad performance and drive better results.

8 ChatGPT Prompts for Different Copywriting Frameworks (via the AI Hustle Lab)
Why I recommend it: Bookmark this one. ChatGPT for both its good and ill can save you a significant amount of time, particularly if you’re using tried-and-tested prompts. This article gives you 8 prompts to generate more than halfway decent copy for your next project.
The Formula Behind One of America’s Longest-Running Ads (via Eddie Schleyner)
Why I recommend it: Need a new way to pitch a product to your target audience? This benefits-led copywriting formula could do the trick. Not only does it prioritize your reader’s primary pain point, it does so in a not-all-too-pushy, persuasive manner.
Pretty Fly Copy
GRAMMARLY
Format: Ad
Why I like it: To be clear, this is not a real ad. It’s one that the Ad Professor made on his coffee break. Regardless, it’s 9 words that demonstrate why Grammarly is so important. Commas save lives.
WHO GIVES A CRAP
Format: Email
Why I like it: I can imagine it’s difficult to make toilet paper interesting, but these folks do it (and do it well). The thing I like most about this email is how allll of the content leads to the CTA: “I long for TP”. It’s a great lesson in learning how to keep one’s attention. Also, they said “maths.”
EVERLYWELL
Format: Email
Why I like it: They picked one angle and leaned into it. This campaign’s all about metabolism and simple ways to up your self-care routine (which affect your metabolism). It’s a great example of not trying to do too much, which brands consistently wrestle with.
Olukai
Format: Email
Why I like it: ONE product feature. ONE theme. ONE type of customer. Again – rule of one at play. This was a dead simple campaign though. Headline (value prop) → CTA → Hook → Value Props → Social Proof → Product Showcase → Brand VPs → Done.
FREE FLY APPAREL
Format: Email
Why I like it: It’s on theme for summer. The subject line drew me in, the headline resonated, and the social proof was great. What I didn’t like? IT’S BASICALLY A LANDING PAGE. Emails aren’t landing pages, dude.
