Must-Read Articles
2024 Benchmark Report (via Klaviyo)
Why I recommend it: Ever wonder what “normal” is across the industry? This email + SMS performance data from Klaviyo gives you the glimpse you’re after. It’s interesting to spot trends and identify ways to keep optimizing opportunities for your clients!
Boost Your Creativity (via Valet Mag)
Why I recommend it: As a creative, it’s easy to feel like you’re getting stuck in a rut. Sometimes, there are simply periods of inspiration leaving us feeling like complete imposters. Thankfully, there are a few things we can do to boost our creativity energy during those slumps. This article is all about that.
11 Ways to Get Better Feedback from Your Manager (via Wes Kao)
Why I recommend it: This is a must-read for everybody who works under the leadership of others. Feedback is one of my favorite drivers for personal and professional growth. But it turns out, we can get better feedback with a few shifts in strategy. READ THIS.
Pretty Fly Copy
TAYLOR STITCH
Format: Email
Why I like it: Overall, a gorgeous campaign. I especially love the hero section. The headline’s powerful on it’s own. Honestly, they could’ve dropped a “shop the collection” button right below it and that would’ve been enough. Goes to show, less can be more!
MINDJOURNAL
Format: Email
Why I like it: When your core product intersects with a habit regularly practiced by your target audience, you find a way to align your product with said habit. This is a great example of how to do that well.
ALLTRAILS
Format: Email
Why I like it: People love to be a part of something that matters. AllTrails is aware of this and created an opportunity for readers to join in on the action by logging in and using their platform. The reward? They’ll plant trees. It’s a great strategy for connecting with your reader, your shared values, and to drive them to action.
BURGER KING
Format: Magazine Advertorial
Why I like it: It’s written to one person (Michelin inspectors). It’s informal (very conversational in nature). It’s imaginative (actually encourages you to imagine eating the burger). It’s persuasive (takes the inspector’s objections and busts them).
DUOLINGO
Format: Ad
Why I like it: (Snagged this find from the Ad Professor on LinkedIn). It’s five words in total. Highly personalized and meets the reader where they’re at (the bus stop). And it’s actionable (learn Italian – use our app).
MONOS
Format: Twitter Ad
Why I like it: I love a good static ad with key value prop call-outs. I like how each of these value props identifies with common pain points associated with rolling luggage through a crowded airport. That’s how you need to frame product benefits for your clients’ customers. Put them in a specific context and amplify the benefits.
