Rule of Three
Present information in threes - it's catchier and easy to remember.
✔️ “Our app is user-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient.”
✔️ “Our socks are moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating, and stink-free!”
✔️ “Our hybrid cookware gives you the performance of stainless steel, the durability of cast iron, and the convenience of nonstick – all in one pan!”
The rule of three – simple and impactful.
Must-Read Articles
Human Behavior in Digital Marketing (via Level 343)
Why I recommend it: This article dives deep into the heart of what makes digital marketing tick, pulling from the wisdom of Robert Cialdini and his legendary principles. It's all about understanding the human touch behind the clicks and swipes. We're talking the gold nuggets like scarcity, authority, social proof, empathy, reciprocity, and consistency. Think more broadly when you read this and think about ways it can inform your email writing strategies.
6 April Fool’s Day Emails (via Klaviyo)
Why I recommend it: Yep – April 1st is right around the corner and maybe you have a client who wants to play around with a campaign or two on that day. These are some great ideas to get your juices flowing.
Master Email A/B Testing (via Klaviyo)
Why I recommend it: A/B testing isn't just for emails – it's critical across all marketing touchpoints, from SMS to web forms, especially as the digital space gets more competitive. Thanks to AI, platforms (like Klaviyo) can streamline the process, offering insights to optimize campaigns efficiently. Key strategies? Read on.
Pretty Fly Copy
HUCKBERRY
Format: Email
Why I like it: Yes, I know this email is L O N G . . . but I like how it’s curated around one theme: travel. Even more so, it’s about how to travel light.
RUGGABLE
Format: Email
Why I like it: Look, I’m sorry, but Ruggable’s emails are consistently catching my eye. I loved the creativity behind the hero image here. It certainly stopped me in my tracks.
AMERICAN GIANT
Format: Email
Why I like it: We’ve seen AG do this before – including product value props in the header image. But I love that they drew attention to how they implemented real customer feedback in the copy. “You wanted this, so we made it happen.”
MADE IN
Format: Email
Why I like it:It’s all too common for brands to do TOO MUCH in their emails. A little genuinely goes a long way, especially if you stick to ONE primary message. This email from Made In is a great example of that. It’s all about pasta. And while they said they have 9 recipes in the subject line, they only showcased 3 in the email. Otherwise, it would’ve been too long (like that Huckberry email).
