Copy Tip of the Week
Unexpected Analogies
Make your product relatable with a creative analogy.
Selling a water bottle? Compare it to the idea of quenching one’s thirst.
"This water bottle isn’t just a container; it’s like a mini-oasis in the desert of your day. Wherever you go, it ensures a refreshing sip of nature, reminding you of the serene and pristine beauty of our planet."
This kind of analogy not only makes your product memorable but also adds a personal and fun element to your copy.
Must-Read Articles
Customer Delight (via How to E-Commerce)
Why I recommend it: Struggling with that post-purchase flow? Not sure what to send your customers after they purchase? HTE recently shed some light on unique ways to delight your customers post-purchase. May their recommendations inform alllllll of your post-purchase flows and outreach…
Imposter Syndrome Isn’t What You Think (via Chris Guillebeau)
Why I recommend it: I’ve never met a writer in today’s online era who hasn’t at least once said they feel like a fraud. Imposter syndrome, whether it’s really a thing or not, is still a beast we all wrestle. I like what Chris says though, “Your beliefs will follow your behavior, and that matters more than any imposter."
10 Effective Examples of DTC Email Marketing (via Selzy)
Why I recommend it: We all need some inspiration from time to time, right? This was a great article with great examples of DTC emails, including ones showcasing partnerships with influencers, UGC, up-sells, value-adds, and more.
Pretty Fly Copy
HEXCLAD
Format: Email
Why I like it: The subject line is curiosity-inducing and the copy inside the email leads the reader why they need that pan. Also, even though it’s copy-heavy, I think the designer did a fantastic job making this one sing!
EMMY SQUARED
Format: Email
Why I like it: A local restaurant sent out an email pitching a new product and then “fumbled” on their links. I thought the copy in this super simple campaign was brilliant.
CASELY
Format: Email
Why I like it: I think the copywriter did a fantastic job concepting this email out and the designer did a just-as-amazing job bringing it to life. This is a great example demonstrating how simple, thematic copy can go a long way.
ONYX COFFEE
Format: Email
Why I like it: For one, I enjoyed the subject line. But in this rare instance, I approve of the very long headline at the top of the hero. Honestly, they could’ve just put the image and CTA right underneath it and been done with the email. But in true Onyx fashion, they go into detail about their product.
FELLOW
Format: Email
Why I like it: Second week in a row they’ve made my list! But I love the subject line and the supporting preview text. The product descriptions and CTAs support the “hygge” theme too.
AWAY
Format: Email
Spotted by: Alexa Rome, Junior Copywriter + Content Strategist, Homestead Studio
Why I like it: Away gives you inspiration of different places you could go with their luggage. They include cool photos and rich descriptions so you can really imagine yourself there. Then they just give a little nudge of products that are part of that image.
