I read this Wayne Dyer quote the other day and I can’t seem to shake it.
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
– Wayne Dyer
Legitimately, this phrase is chasing me around the internet. It popped up in two different books I’m reading, in an app that I use on my phone, and in multiple email newsletters – all in the two days.
Thing is, I’m not running from what it suggests. Quite the opposite. In fact, it’s reflective of my own lived experience in the last few months.
So how have I changed my perspective?
Practicing gratitude.
I credit practicing gratitude with transforming my perspective on... everything.
At the end of every workday, I open a certain doc on my computer and jot down 5 things I'm grateful for that happened that day.
I also keep a small 'field notes' notebook next to my bed. Every night before going to sleep, I write down as many things I'm grateful for from the day – no matter how small.
It felt like "work" at first, but now I anticipate what I get to express gratitude for in these moments. I find myself taking mental notes throughout the day, I’ll have to remember that to add to my list tonight.
It's genuinely been so transformative, changing me from the inside out.
But wait.
What does this have to do with copywriting?
You tell me.
