Summary
If you want to grow as a copywriter, you need to pay attention to how others think, write, and solve problems. This roundup highlights 20+ newsletters from some of the sharpest minds in email, eComm, SaaS, and beyond. It’s a curated mix of strategy, psychology, and real-world writing advice—no filler, just value.
Why You Should Read and Learn from Others
I’m not the smartest copywriter in the room (and neither are you). The best writers I know aren’t aiming for that. They’re curious. Always learning, always open to a new perspective that might shift their thinking. They know good ideas can come from anywhere — a DTC email, a B2B strategist, or someone in a totally different lane.
That’s why newsletters matter. They’re free (usually), consistent, and give you a window into how sharp minds write and solve problems.
As of this writing (6.26.2025), I think the ones below represent some of the best thinking in the game.
Call it a shortcut to getting smarter, faster.
(P.S. I get zero kick-back with any of the links below and none of these guys asked me to recommend them.)
Newsletters for Copywriters
All About Mail (by Simon Harper)
Simon Harper – an email geek G.O.A.T. If you’re in email marketing, this is a must. From actionable insights to links to stellar resources, Simon’s dishing out some of the best email marketing content week after week. Definitely recommended for any copywriter who touches email.
Amy Posner
Amy is a LEGEND! I’ve met her in person before and can 10/10 say she wouldn’t remember me from every other bearded white guy. But she’s so nice! And as a deeply experienced copywriter who helps other freelance copywriters improve their craft and build their business, she’s a worthy subscribe.
Buyology
Similar to The Playbook, this daily newsletter is jam-packed with strategy recommendations and behavioral insights any copywriter and marketer can apply to their work.
The Copy Minimalist
Duh, I’m going to include myself here.
The Copywriter Club
I’m not mincing words when I say this: I owe the positive trajectory of my copywriting career to The Copywriter Club. When I was freelancing, Rob and Kira helped me build a sustainable business. And as someone wanting to improve their copy craft, they put the tools and resources in front of me to help me do just that.
The Creative Marketer (by Schlomo Genchin)
This twice-a-month newsletter is a must. Just take my word for it. The value Schlomo packs in every single newsletter (for FREE, mind you) is unreal.
Dan Nelken
If I could be like anybody when I “grow up,” it would be Dan. You might know him from his best-selling book A Self-Help Guide for Copywriters. Well, turns out, he has a killer email list too (and is a worthwhile follow on LinkedIn as well). As a career writer and creative director, subscribing to his list isn’t optional. And if you hate it, you can unsubscribe.
Daniel Bustamante
Daniel’s always churning out great templates and free resources any copywriter and marketer can leverage to save themselves time and work. Worth it for that alone.
Direct to Consumer (DTC)
If you’re in eCommerce and work with DTC brands in any capacity, I cannot recommend this newsletter enough. Their podcast is stellar too. I know Pilothouse is technically a competitor of Homestead, but I’m not going to deny you top-notch content.
Email Love
Andy King has been churning out A+ content via Email Love for quite a while. His newsletters contain top-tier email examples for adding to your swipe file, email marketing tips, and recommended resources. If you’re ever lacking inspo, this is a good resource.
Emails Done Right
Saas, eComm, freelancing – Samar Owais is a deeeeeeeeep well of knowledge. I met Samar through mutual contacts in the copywriting world, enrolled in her eCommerce Boot Camp years ago, and it absolutely changed the trajectory of my career. I was able to meet her in person back in 2022 and she is certainly just as delightful and kind in person as she is over Zoom calls. Just subscribe to her newsletter. You’ll be glad you did.
Kaleigh Moore
If you’re a copywriter for eComm or SaaS brands, then Kaleigh is your gal. But also if you’re a writer for eComm and SaaS brands, the wisdom she pours out in her newsletters has the potential to transform your career. Not to mention, the resources (free/paid) she offers are top-tier.
Marketing Ideas
If you don’t like paying for premium subscriptions, this one may not be for you. But to be frank, it’s worth subscribing even for the free monthly insights. Tom Orbach runs a beast of a newsletter community containing a wellspring of ideas for copywriters and marketers in every niche.
The Playbook
If you’re in eCommerce and you write words in any capacity, then you should absolutely subscribe to this newsletter. It’s great for strategy insights as well as copywriting tips/advice to help your words convert even better.
Psychology Meets Writing
If you want to write well and use psychology to inform your ideas, then I have some good news. Because this newsletter is just for you.
The Real Amy Collins
I met Amy way back in my Copywriter Club days. Aside from being a fantastic storyteller, Amy is a word-marketing genuis. Not to mention, she’s hilarious AF.
Stacked Marketer
When I need easy-to-read digital marketing news, these guys deliver, Monday through Friday. It helps me stay on top of the latest trends and they also do a good job of spilling industry “tea.” I recommend it for copywriters for the obvious reason that they should stay on top of the hot goss.
Terry Schilling
I think I’ve been on Terry’s email list for 7+ years now and there’s a reason i’m still on it. I’ll let that speak for itself.
VeryGoodCopy (by Eddie Shleyner)
Eddie Shleyner is legit a national treasure and [my] copywriting hero. He’s highly regarded as one of the biggest influencers in the copywriting space, and as someone who’s followed him for years, it’s been fun watching his career absolutely skyrocket. But he shells out gem after gem for writers of all types and I admire his wisdom when it comes to creativity. He knows how to ‘keep the main thing the main thing’ in the most poetic of ways. If I ever get the chance to meet him face-to-face, I’ll probably just hug him and then buy him coffee to chat about fatherhood.
Voicemail (by Grace Baldwin)
I met Grace many moons ago in my membership with The Copywriter Club hosted by Rob Marsh and Kira Hug. Grace is a prolific B2B/SaaS copywriter and marketer. Her ability to distill copy into its most simple and impactful form is more akin to an art above all else. That aside, she does a damn fine job of sharing her secrets with easy-to-copy advice. Every edition of her newsletter is packed with value. Highly recommend.
Wes Kao’s Newsletter
I’m technically a middle manager in my day job and Wes’ insights have been insanely beneficial for me as a manager and leader. From managing up to leading well, her newsletters have been a must-read for me every time. And for copywriters (in-house, agency, freelance), her words are great for helping you communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
Why We Buy
One of the best things a copywriter can do is familiarize themselves with the intersection of behavioral psychology and marketing. “Why We Buy” does just that by sharing digestible (and applicable) insights into buyer psychology so you can help your clients sell more stuff.
Writing Wednesdays (by Matt Lilly White)
A great newsletter designed around helping writers find their voice, their audience, and grow their writing career. Before you stop and think this is only for “writers” and not “copywriters” – check yourself before you wreck yourself. There’s great advice in his updates applicable to anybody who writes.
Tools for Reading + Saving Newsletters
If you’re looking for some tools that will make subscribing to, reading, and saving the above newsletters even easier, then I recommend these two:
1. Feedly News Reader
URL: https://feedly.com/news-reader
With the Feedly News Reader, you can follow news sites, blogs, and industry publications in one place. Many of my subscriptions are syndicated here. There is a free version of this app (which I use) and a paid version (the price is a little steep). But I find the browser extension useful for saving articles to certain boards.
Readwise Reader
Readwise Reader also has a free and pro version (I subscribe to the pro version). It operates similarly to Feedly, however, there aren’t publications already built-in to the platform. But one of the things I appreciate about it is that I can highlight articles and PDFs, plus it offers an AI summary. Readwise also syncs with my Kindle, so that’s kind of nice.
