The people making the most strides in your industry (whatever it is) are doing so for 3 reasons:
1 / They have an insatiable thirst for knowledge and feed it every day.
Expanding their knowledge isn’t an option, it’s a requirement. They’re always learning, always watching, always listening, and always wrestling with new ideas. They know that what gets them from point A to point B won’t get them from point B to point C, so they learn new ways of thinking and doing and living as much as possible.
2 / They have an extreme bias toward intentional actions.
“Don’t think, just do” is a mantra of theirs. They take the things they’re learning on a daily basis and try to fit those learnings into their everyday life. If they fail, they learn from it and move on. But the point is 100% of these people aren’t thinking themselves to death. They identify the most viable next step they can take and move.
3 / They give zero shits about what other people are thinking about what it is they’re doing.
They’re not thinking about what so-and-so might be thinking about them. There’s not time for that. Their attention is laser-locked on the goals they’ve set for themselves and what they’re actually doing. They don’t have time to burn rubber seeking validation or approval from outside themselves.
That’s it. And if you want to make progress in whatever arena you’re in, I suggest you do the same.
