This week, the Email+SMS team at Homestead rendezvoused in Denver, Colorado for some good old-fashioned team building.
What’s so special about that?
Well, our side of the agency is 100% remote.
We have team members in every timezone of the USA, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, and Asia.
After nearly two years of working full-time for Homestead, it’s the first time we’ve been able to organize an in-person meet-up.
I thought it might be awkward to meet people I’ve only seen from the shoulders up for the first time. But it wasn’t, and maybe that’s what’s most remarkable about this whole experience.
It’s refreshing to participate in a workplace culture where everyone feels the freedom to be their true authentic selves both digitally and in real life.
I feel like in a lot of traditional work settings, it’s easy for people to “put on a face” and be someone they’re not to impress others.
That’s not the case here.
I have to give a lot of credit to Kelly Stymiest, Jacob Sappington, Riley Trotter, and Zach Stuck for working so diligently at making this type of workplace culture a reality.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go eat food and soak up the little time I have left with this amazing group of people.
