Growing up, I was obsessed with jazz music. (Honestly, I still am.) I picked up the trombone in elementary school and never looked back.
In college, my jazz professor constantly encouraged us to listen to jazz music. She said if we wanted to get better at improvisation, we had to listen to it.
Know your scales (obviously), but get inspired by what others are doing so you can piece together your own melodic wonders – ya know?
The best writers are readers, too.
Know the basic skills to write, but get inspired by what others are doing so you can weave together your own ideas and stories.
All that to say, I thought I’d share what’s on my reading list this month. Some of these apply to writing and marketing and some of it’s for personal and professional growth (or for just fun).
