We’ve grown rapidly at the agency in the past year, and honestly, it’s been super cool to be a part of it.
But as we scale to a larger team and bigger clients, it’s revealed processes, systems, and even expectations (client to agency, agency to client, employee to agency, etc.) that no longer work for us.
And would you know something — changing that shit is hard!
Dismantling structures you’ve built — structures that got you to where you are — can feel deeply personal in some places.
Those templates you spent days making?
They’re crap now.
The worksheet you created for clients?
It no longer works.
The editing process you thought was on point?
Hot garbage.
That onboarding process?
Talk about glaring gaps in training, genius.
But if we left all of those things in place, it would stunt our growth and keep us from getting better — as writers, designers, account managers, and an agency as a whole.
Change, no matter how difficult, is an intentional transformation process.
And in order to transform and grow into the next thing, other things, unfortunately, have to die and/or be left behind.
So think of me (and my teammates) as we stare lovingly at some of the things we created and shove them off the cliff to their death to make room for something new.
Sounds dark, I know.
Sorry, mom.
